The specific purpose of this cookie policy is to explain the types of cookies, how they are used, and provide indications on how to refuse or delete cookies present on the website, if desired.
What are cookies and how are they used
Cookies are strings of text sent from a web server (e.g. the website) to your Internet browser, which automatically stores them on your computer and automatically sends them back to the server each time you visit or visit the website.
By default, almost all web browsers are set to accept cookies automatically.
The Veneto Innovazione Spa websites use or may use the following categories of cookies, subdivided according to the classification proposed in Opinion 04/2012 on the exemption from consent for the use of cookies issued by the Working Group ex art. 29 within the EU (available here: http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/article-29/documentation/opinion-recommendation/files/2012/wp194_it.pdf#h2-8 [PDF] [153 KB]):
- Of “session” that are stored on the user’s computer for mere technical-functional needs, for the transmission of session identifiers necessary to allow the safe and efficient exploration of the site; they are deleted at the end of the “session” (hence the name) when the browser is closed. This type of cookie avoids the use of other computer techniques potentially prejudicial to the privacy of the users’ browsing;
- “persistent” remain stored on the computer’s hard drive until they expire or are deleted by users/visitors. Through persistent cookies, visitors accessing the site (or other users using the same computer) are automatically recognized at each visit. Persistent cookies fulfil many functionalities in the interest of surfers (such as the navigation language or the registration of the shopping cart in online purchases). However, persistent cookies can also be used for promotional purposes or even for purposes of dubious legality. Visitors can set their computer browser in such a way that it accepts/rejects all cookies or displays a warning each time a cookie is proposed in order to assess whether to accept it or not. However, the user is allowed to modify the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e. block them permanently), setting the highest level of protection.
These two types of cookies (session and persistent) can in turn be:
- “first party” when they are managed directly by the owner and/or manager of the website
- “third party” when the cookies are set and managed by managers outside the website visited by the user.
